MIRAMSHAH: Two grandsons of senior tribal journalist Haji Pazeer Gul sustained injuries when a rocket fell on their home here late Saturday night, local sources said.
Unknown people fired a rocket at the roadside checkpoint of the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) at Darpakhel Sarai in Miramshah but it reportedly did not cause any casualty to the security personnel or damage to the post.
The area residents said the FC soldiers retaliated and started indiscriminate firing of rockets and mortars, one of which fell on the house of senior journalist Haji Pazeer Gul. Two of his grandsons, Baitullah and Inamullah, sustained injuries and were taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Miramshah.
According to Haji Pazeer Gul, a portion of his house was also damaged in the rocket attack. He said the two injured children were shifted home after receiving treatment and were in stable condition.
Some of the rockets and mortar shells fell on the building of the Government High School for Boys at Miramshah and damaged water tank, rooms and boundary wall of the school, which is said to be the oldest educational institution in North Waziristan. An official of the political administration, after visiting the school, reported that major portion of the building had been damaged and would no more be used for classes.
